It is understood that as of the end of 2017, according to unilateral statistics, the total trading volume of gold futures exceeded 150,000 tons, and the annual trading volume ranked second in the world for five consecutive years. Up to now, in addition to individual customers and general unit customers, there are 18 commercial bank members, 12,000 special unit customers (including futures company assets, brokerages, reasonable funds and fund accounts) to participate in gold futures trading.
在全球經濟復蘇勢頭強勁的同時，全球債務負擔加劇的不穩定性也有所增強，受此影響，今年上半年黃金價格波動性明顯加劇，并對黃金產業發展造成了一定擾動。
日前，山東黃金集團董事長陳玉民在“第三屆中國國際黃金大會”上表示，黃金產量經歷2011年至2016年的強勁增長之后，全球黃金資源供應目前處于相對緊缺狀態，2017年全球礦產金供應量增速僅有0.5%，甚至出現了2000年以來的首次大幅下滑。
從當前宏觀經濟形勢及黃金企業的盈利、產量現狀來看，全球黃金企業面臨的首要問題不再是重點修復資產負債表，而是加快企業轉型升級。
據了解，截至2017年底，按單邊統計，黃金期貨總交易量突破15萬噸，年度成交量連續五年位居全球第2位。截至目前，除了個人客戶和一般單位客戶以外，已有18家商業銀行會員、1.2萬個特殊單位客戶（包含期貨公司資管、券商集合理財以及基金專戶等）參與黃金期貨交易。
